I give in memory
of my late father, Robert R. Vanney (photo above), who spent a large portion of his life serving his country, and in memory of my late Mother, Constance L. Vanney, who greatly supported her husband and raised six children in military bases through out the U.S. and in Italy. They inspire me to donate a portion of my earnings to The Wounded Warrior Project, and Building Homes for Veterans.
Homeless Veterans:
A Cause Worth Fighting For
Homelessness under any circumstance, is sad. It would be wonderful if we lived in a world where it did not exist. As a realtor, I want every adult, child, and family to live in a home that is safe and full of love. Because I grew up in a military family, my heart is especially heavy regarding homeless veterans and I am committed to play my part in solving this situation.
My late father retired after a career in the Air Force, and my husband also retired after 26 year in the Air Force. Unfortunately, many of our Veterans, have given so much to protect our freedoms, yet face a heavy price as they return to civilian life.
They face obstacles gaining meaningful employment as their military jobs don’t always coincide with civilian jobs. Lack of employment prevents many from sustaining a livable income, and finding affordable housing. Nearly 80% of homeless veterans suffer from mental health challenges, drug and/or alcohol abuse, or co-occurring disorders, the most frequent of which is post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) due to experiences during their service.
Our homeless veterans have served in World War II, the Korean War, the Cold War, Vietnam, the Persian Gulf War, and operations in Afghanistan and Iraq.
I support organizations such as the Wounded Warrior Project, and Building Homes for Veterans, as they are diligently working to help Veterans avoid experiencing homelessness.
In memory of my late father Robert R. Vanney, who spent a large portion of his life serving his country, and to my late Mother, Constance L. Vanney, who supported her husband, and raised six children in military bases through out the U.S and Europe, I donate a portion of my earnings to The Wounded Warrior Project, and Building Homes for Veterans.
